Problems Occur When Installing or Printing USB
Solution: Verify the USB cabling complies with USB 1.0 specifications

There are two types of USB cables:

  • High Speed
  • Low Speed

Xerox/Tektronix printers are High-Speed devices and require the use of a high-speed USB cable. A high-speed device connected with a low-speed cable will result in signal distortion over long distances.

Cable length is also critical in maintaining signal timing. If CRC (CYCLIC REDUNDANCY CHECKING) errors are being generated, chances are it is a result of a cable that is too long, a cable that is bad, or a USB hub that is not functioning correctly.

The maximum supported USB cable length is 5 meters, per USB 1.0 specifications.

Note: Extension cables and pass-through monitors are not supported for use in connecting to a printer.
